Employees’ Provident Fund Organization’s new rules on Aadhaar and PF linking are kicking in from today June 1, 2021. A notification in this regard has also been released by EPFO.
If PF account holders do not follow the guideline, their EPF contribution may be severely impacted.
In its message to the employers, the EPFO said, “Dear Employer, with the coming into force of Section 142 of the Code on Social Security, 2020, the ECR shall also be allowed to be filed only for those members, whose Aadhaar numbers are seeded and verified with the UANs, w.e.f 01.06.2021,”
Also adding, ” Accordingly, please ensure the Aadhaar seeding in respect of all the contributory members to enable them to avail uninterrupted services of the EPFO and to avoid any inconvenience.”
Linking Of PF Account With Aadhaar
Under section 142 of the Social Security Code 2020, the EPFO has introduced new rules. According to the new EPFO rule, every account holder’s PF account must be linked to his or her Aadhaar Card.
If the employees do not comply by June 1, the employer’s payment to the PF account may also be stopped as well.
What If You Don’t Link your PF account with Aadhaar?
The regulatory body has also clearly instructed the employers that from June 1, if a PF account is not linked to Aadhaar or UAN is not Aadhaar verified, then its ECR-Electronic Challan cum Return will not be filled.
So the employees can see their own PF account contribution but they will not be able to get the employer’s share.
