Weekly Trending Smartphones: Redmi K20 Pro, Redmi 64MP Phone, Mi A3, Redmi K20, Realme X, Realme 3i

Top trending smartphones this week (February 25, 2019)

The week was mostly dominated by the newly launched Realme and Redmi smartphones. Realme announced two smartphones in the country, Realme 3i and Realme X, while Xiaomi unveiled the much-touted Redmi K20 series in the country since its initial China launch in May.

Alongside Redmi K20 series, the company also launched Mi A3 in Spain, to soon launch in India.

Redmi India also teased a 64MP camera phone, rumoured to be Redmi Note 8 Pro. The company previously dropped hints that they are working on a 64MP camera phone featuring a quad camera setup. It’s the same device, but we don’t think it’s Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Let’s check out the top trending smartphones from this week.

Redmi K20 Pro

Xiaomi launched its very first flagship series under Redmi in the country last week, K20 series. There are two devices under the K20 series: Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. The Pro model, Redmi K20 Pro continues to trend in the country since it topped the AnTuTu list to become the world’s fastest smartphone beating all the top flagships available in the market. Redmi K20 Pro runs on the most affordable smartphone running on Qualcomm flagship processor Snapdragon 855 starting at Rs 27,999.

The company faced some big backlash due to the higher pricing in India compared to the China prices.

The device will come with a three rear camera system, notch-less display, in-display fingerprint sensor, a pop-up selfie camera with support for the latest Android Q beta version, 4,000mAh battery supporting 27W fast charging.

Realme 64MP Camera Phone

The Redmi GM Lu Weibing has posted a few snaps on Chinese microblogging site Weibo sharing a few details about its upcoming Redmi products. Among all, a Redmi phone has been confirmed by the company with a four camera setup. The new independent sub-brand will soon be launching soon a 64MP camera phone under its belt. Apart from sharing the news, the company GM also posted some camera samples shot with the 64MP Redmi camera phone. Previously Realme CEO Madhav Sheth did the same with Realme’s upcoming 64MP camera phone.

To add to the excitement, on Monday, Xiaomi VP and India MD Manu Kumar Jain also posted the same camera samples shot with the Redmi 64MP camera phone. This directly hints at India launch of the Redmi 64MP camera phone soon, probably by August end or early September.

Redmi K20

The regular Redmi K20 has been launched starting at Rs 21,999. The device packs in some flagship level features available at a budget cost running on Snapdragon 730 chip. Realme X will fight Redmi K20 in India with such similar features. The Redmi smartphone will come with Snapdragon 730 processor featuring an 6.39-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage.

As K20 Pro, the regular Redmi K20 faced the same backlash due to the higher pricing in the country. Both the devices went for its maiden sale via Flipkart yesterday.

Coming to optics, Redmi K20 packs in a triple rear camera featuring 48MP Sony IMX 582 sensor along with 8MP amd 13MP sensors, and finally a 20MP pop-up selfie camera. It runs on Android 9 Pie based MIUI 10 with a 4,000mAh battery backing it supporting 18W fast charging.

Realme X

Realme X has been helmed as a winner by the critics, and the mass is loving it. The Redmi K20 pricing has helped Realme X garner more praise in the country. It’s the first Realme notch-less smartphone running on the Snapdragon 710 chip featuring a full-screen AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint sensor embedded beneath the display. The company has used a pop-up selfie sensor to offer higher screen space without a notch. Realme X is available via Flipkart.

At the back, Realme X comes with dual cameras featuring the 48MP Sony IMX 586 sensor as the primary shooter. Realme X will be launching in India soon, expected to start at around Rs 18,000. The company will also unveil a special Spiderman variant on the same day.

Realme 3i

The new budget Realme 3i is up for sale today via Flipkart. Launched at under 8,000 rupees, the new Realme 3i shares a lot with the existing Realme 3. With a plastic body on the out, Realme 3i sports a 6.22-inch HD+ display in an 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It’s a large edge-to-edge display with minimal bezels and a thin chin. Under the hood, Realme 3i is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 SoC with upto 4GB RAM and 64GB storage supporting additional storage via an external memory card.

Mi A3

Mi A3 has been finally unveiled in Spain. It’s the rebranded Mi CC9 series, and it may soon launch in India. The specs are quite disappointing, especially the only-HD+ display. While India may get a slightly better features, the current Mi A3 stands to be the rebranded Mi CC9e. It features a 6.08-inch HD+ AMOLED display with a circular drop styled notch and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The handset comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor, powered by the Snapdragon 665 SoC coupled with up to 4GB of RAM.

Vivo Z1 Pro

Vivo launched an all new series in the country, the Z series. Aimed at youth, the company plans to take on Xiaomi, Realme and Asus in the segment. The first Z series device, Vivo Z1 Pro has been trending since launch. It’s currently the cheapest smartphone in India to come with a punch-hole display. Vivo Z1 Pro comes with a three camera setup at the back, Snapdragon 712 processor, 5,000mAh battery and a punch-hole display.

The company surprised all with the price as Vivo Z1 Pro only starts at Rs 14,999. It will directly challenge other punch-hole display smartphones in the market, at the same time taking on the budget superstars: Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro in India.
